Comedians are heroes too.

If anyone really thought that racism was dead in the USA, just visit YouTube. Even though I saw the White House Correspondence Dinner live on MSNBC, I wanted quote to Wanda Sykes exactly in an email to a friend. She’s funny. I’m not. So I wandered over to:

To say that I was a little surprised at the racist vitriol masquerading for comments is an understatement. I did screengrab photos of these comments so they can’t be erased from existence.

Good God. I am astounded, appalled, and ashamed.

I want to personally apologize to Wanda Sykes for the stupidity of fascist right-wing wingnut people. Who else would say “Monkey wants a bannana (sic) now…” ?

I thank God every day for the existence of ballsy comedians to say what most of us didn’t have the balls to say in a national forum.

Where would we be if it wasn’t for Tina Fey? Probably standing in breadlines listening to Sarah Palin lecture us about the joys of owning a gun so we can hunt for our own food. ( And reduce dependance on welfare, dontcha know?)

Its the one thing we can thanks George W. for, the merciless ribbing the right will get for being stupid. ‘Cause we all know what “stupid” has gotten us.

Because if we had to depend on the “biased liberal media”, we would be reading press releases in lieu of news.

Frank Rich wrote an op-ed piece for NYTimes.com about the state of of journalism in the U. S. It begins with,

“IF you wanted to pick the moment when the American news business went on suicide watch, it was almost exactly three years ago. That’s when Stephen Colbert, appearing at the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner…”

(read the article in its entirety here: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/10/opinion/10rich.html?em)

More evidence that Stephen Colbert deserved to be immortalized in Spiderman #573

If you missed Stephen Colbert’s speech at WH Correspondence Dinner in 2006, you can see it in its entirety here.

And if Wanda Sykes spoke to you, email everyone you know a link to the YouTube video of her speech. Drown out the voices of the fascist racist teabagging nutters.
